I'm a psychiatric nurse practitioner who provides counseling to individuals who have a history of cancer or a family member of a patient experiencing cancer.
Over the next several months, I'll be writing about my own experiences with cancer. After being diagnosed with breast cancer in February 2009, I wrote a letter to my family and friends to inform them of my diagnosis. I continued to write letters, to update everyone of my progress, but also to help me cope with my disease.
